Rafizi pans PN’s plan for Selangor economic recovery council

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli says the opposition should instead set up such a council for Kelantan.

Rafizi Ramli also slammed Perikatan Nasional elections director Sanusi Nor for only preaching hate among the Malays.
GEORGE TOWN:
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has rubbished the opposition’s plan to establish an economic recovery action council in Selangor should it form the state government after Aug 12.

“What are you trying to recover? Selangor is already number one,” he said at a ceramah last night, alluding to the latest data by the statistics department.

Last month, the chief statistician said Selangor continued to maintain its position as the largest economy.

The state was also among the four whose gross domestic product (GDP) outperformed the national average last year.

On June 27, then menteri besar Amirudin Shari said that Selangor contributed a record 25.5% to the national GDP, an increase of 0.7% over that for 2021.

Rafizi said if anything, Perikatan Nasional (PN) should form such a council for the states it was trying to retain in the Aug 12 polls.

“Muhyiddin Yassin should have announced an economic recovery council for Kelantan, not Selangor.”

When unveiling its manifesto on Friday, Muhyiddin, who is PN chairman, said such a council would be established to revive the state’s economic status and solve the cost of living issues faced by the people.

It was previously reported that PAS-controlled Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu are among the poorest states in the country.

Rafizi also took a swipe at PN election director Sanusi Nor whom he labelled a “clown who spews stupid jokes”.

Sanusi seems incapable of talking about anything other than preaching hate to the Malays.

“We are here not just to win the state elections but also to defeat the stupidity that is brought by PN.”
