PETALING JAYA:
Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the people’s support for Barisan Nasional (BN) is becoming increasingly evident, even in opposition strongholds.

Ismail, who is a former Umno vice-president, said he had witnessed this while observing election campaigns in Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu.

“These are positive developments. I can see clear support for BN, even in certain states where our rivals are strong.

“This is very heartening and (possibly) an indication of how the people will vote in the Aug 12 state polls,” he said after attending an event at Felda Sungai Kelamah, Gemas, last night.

Ismail also said it was difficult to predict if Perikatan Nasional’s “green wave” would make a comeback in the state elections.

“I may not have gone to every state, but in the areas I visited, like in Felda Sungai Kelamah, the reception and response to BN is very positive,” he said.

In Besut, Terengganu, for example, the reception received was very encouraging. “I hope to see the same in other places,” he said.
