Foreign national nabbed and vehicle seized after video of incident in KL city centre goes viral.

Police say they are investigating the case under the Explosives Act.
PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a foreign national suspected of setting off fireworks from a moving car, as recorded in a video that went viral on social media recently.

Police said the incident, seen in the 14-second video clip, was a danger to the public.

Sentul police chief Sukarno Zahari said they caught the clip going viral at about 8.30pm yesterday, with the incident understood to have occurred in the Kuala Lumpur city centre.

“Acting on information, the police arrested a 31-year-old foreign man and seized a silver Proton Waja car,” he said in a statement today.

He said the suspect, who did not have a criminal record, would be remanded at the Sentul police headquarters to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 7 of the Explosives Act 1957, which carries a penalty of seven years’ imprisonment or a fine of RM10,000, or both, upon conviction.
