No cracks in unity govt, good luck to the agitators, says Anwar

The PKR president and prime minister says the government and its components remain steadfast.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim did not deny that there are ‘desperate groups’ attempting to incite matters, but said their efforts will not succeed.
SHAH ALAM:
There are no signs of cracks in the unity government led by Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The PKR president said the government and all its component parties in Pakatan Harapan, BN, and those in Sabah and Sarawak remained strong.

However, he did not deny that there were “desperate groups” attempting to incite matters.

“There are only groups of desperadoes attempting to incite matters. To them I say good luck and goodbye. It will not work,” he  said at PKR’s 25th anniversary special convention at the Ideal Convention Centre here today.

Anwar said he was surprised that he was also attacked over the affidavit filed by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on the “supplementary order” by the former king allegedly allowing Najib Razak to serve the rest of his prison sentence under house arrest.

“This matter is under the purview of the pardons board and the king’s decree. That’s my answer, based on the discussions with the attorney-general and information from the Malay rulers and the king.

“We are not trying to undermine the decision of the judge. However, our methods have not been agreeable to certain parties in the unity government or among those outside the government,” he said.

He said his government’s stance remains steadfast that all decisions regarding the matter must be made in a meeting of the Federal Territories Pardons Board and according to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision at the said meeting.
