KUALA LUMPUR:
Perikatan Nasional election director Sanusi Nor has been told to focus on his responsibilities as Kedah menteri besar instead of commenting on the relationship between MCA and Pakatan Harapan.

“He talks a lot but doesn’t accomplish much,” said government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil.

“Instead of worrying about others, he should focus on completing the various projects that have been announced in Kedah,” added the communications minister.

He was speaking to the media after witnessing the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) and the Social Security Organisation (Socso) sign a memorandum of understanding at a hotel here.

Yesterday, Sanusi said MCA’s decision not to campaign in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election would be an advantage for PN, which was ready to further exploit the cracks in the relationship between MCA and PH ahead of the May 11 by-election.

DAP is expected to defend the state assembly seat left vacant following the death of Lee Kee Hiong in March.

MCA previously announced that it would not be involved in the campaigning if the candidate was not from Barisan Nasional.

Earlier today, MCA president Wee Ka Siong asked why his party should help campaign for DAP in the by-election next month when DAP had bad-mouthed it.

In a video posted on Facebook, Wee pointed to recent remarks by DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook and asked: “After bashing and hurling insults at MCA, now you (DAP) are asking for our help in your campaign? Do you think we have no dignity or feelings?”

Wee’s video featured snippets from an episode of the Keluar Sekejap podcast where Loke expressed his dislike for MCA, labelling it as a “towkay” party that neglected the Chinese community’s interests.
