Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said Bukit Aman’s special investigation unit was looking into the circulation of the 56-second clip posted on X.
“An investigation has been initiated to track down those responsible for disclosing information on an ongoing investigation and the individual who circulated the video clip,” he said in a statement.
Hussein said the authorities were investigating the matter under Section 203A of the Penal Code for disclosure of information as well as for abuse of network facilities.
He said those convicted under Section 203A could be fined up to RM1 million or jailed for up to a year or both, upon conviction.
He advised the public against sharing the video clip out of respect for the victim and his family.
“Police will take stern action against those who intentionally circulate the video clip and undermine the investigation in the process,” he said.
