2 foreigners die in landslide at Shah Alam construction site

The victims were trapped under soil and a 'U box culvert' concrete structure.

PETALING JAYA:
Two foreign workers were found dead after being buried in a landslide while carrying out drainage excavation work at a construction site in Section U15, Shah Alam, today.

In a statement, Selangor fire and rescue department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said his team received a distress call regarding the incident at 10.30am.

He said a team of officers and personnel from the Bukit Jelutong fire and rescue station was dispatched to the scene.

“The victims were trapped beneath the soil and a ‘U box culvert’ concrete structure during drainage construction work,” he said, adding that they were Bangladeshi nationals.

“The first victim was pulled out at 11.12am and the second at 11.35am.”
