“(Helping Syed Hussien win) is the ultimate goal. Whichever party it is, our aim here is to make him win,” he briefly said when met during a meet-and-greet session together with Syed Hussien at Cawan Mas.

The Ayer Hitam MP also expressed confidence that Syed Hussien would receive strong support from the Chinese community as there was no language barrier.
“He also understands the culture as he comes from a Chinese school, which is an advantage,” Wee said.
He also said it was each party’s responsibility to ensure a high voter turnout.
“Our goal is to introduce our candidate, who we believe is the best choice, and to stress the significance of the by-election to the public,” he said.
The Mahkota by-election will be held on Sept 28, with early voting set for Sept 24.
The by-election will see a straight fight between Syed Hussien and Perikatan Nasional’s Haizan Jaafar.
The by-election was called following the death of Umno assemblyman Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain on Aug 2. She had won the seat during the 2022 state election with a 5,166-vote majority.
