PETALING JAYA:
Police have confirmed that the four students of the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz centre in Datuk Keramat, Kuala Lumpur, who went missing before being found yesterday, had injuries.

Astro Awani reported Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa as saying the injuries were discovered during a preliminary inspection of the children.

“From what we can see, the injuries were caused when they were at the tahfiz centre.

“The matter is still being investigated. We must remember they are children, and their statements must be supported by other solid statements to allow police to take action,” he told reporters today after attending a function.

Rusdi said police have opened an investigation paper under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, which relates to child neglect, and Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for sexual assault.

“There are accusations of abuse and bullying. They say they ran away because they could not stand the conditions at the tahfiz centre.

“In any case, police will investigate the matter and record statements from several people at the centre,” he said.

It was reported yesterday that the four children, who were reported missing since Tuesday, were found by members of the public in Bangi.

They were then brought to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for health checks.
