Wan Ainsyatul Mime Wan Yuszaidi, 26, made the claim on TikTok in July, stating that her father’s debts had forced her into the sex trade.
However, a police investigation revealed that her claim was fabricated.
Today, Wan Ainsyatul pleaded guilty to causing public alarm under Section 505(B) of the Penal Code with her statements, which were made during a programme hosted by two men on a “Heart 2 Heart” show.
Magistrate Nurul Suhaila Baharin imposed the fine and warned Wan Ainsyatul that she would face a nine-month prison sentence if it was not paid.
The court heard that the broadcast prompted the police to investigate potential crimes linked to the claims.
L Sri Vikneswaran, tasked with the inquiry, found no truth in the allegations.
Vikneswaran concluded that the story had been concocted as an emotional response to her personal struggles, the prosecution told the court.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Atikah Asharaf Ali pressed for a significant penalty, stating that Wan Ainsyatul’s false accusations had unsettled the public.
“This kind of behaviour can lead to unrest and insecurity in the community,” she said, requesting a deterrent sentence.
Wan Ainsyatul’s legal aid lawyer, Naqieya Zulkernain, asked for a lenient fine, noting that her client had pleaded guilty.
Naqieya said Wan Ainsyatul earned a salary of RM1,600 a month and had to care for her two young children and elderly mother.
She also said Wan Ainsyatul had learned from her mistake and would not reoffend.
Wan Ainsyatul had yet to pay her fine at the time of writing.
