PETALING JAYA:
Women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M Thinaah are out of the BWF World Tour Finals after losing to India’s Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand Pullela in their second Group A tie in Hangzhou, China.

The Malaysians were defeated by the Indian pair in straight games 19-21, 19-21 in 49 minutes, making it their second loss to the world No 13 pair in nine meetings so far.

In their opening tie yesterday, Pearly-Thinaah fell to Japan’s Nami Matsuyama-Chiharu Shida. Today’s loss means they will not make it to the semi-final even if they win their final Group A match.

In their last match, they will face China’s world No 1 pair Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning, who booked a semi-final berth with their second win this morning.

The other Group A match is between the Indian pair and Japan’s Nami-Chiharu, both of whom have one win each. The winner of this match will make it to the semi-final.
