PETALING JAYA:
The government will allocate RM67 billion to the education sector under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced today.

Tabling the 13MP in the Dewan Rakyat today, he said the allocation would fund the construction of new schools, the repair and upgrade of existing ones, and the enhancement of facilities at public universities and early childhood centres such as KEMAS.

“The government recognises that in the effort to revive a civilisation with soul, no agenda can truly underpin it except for quality education that nurtures compassion and civility,” he said.

According to Anwar, 1,200 dilapidated schools across the country had already been upgraded as of 2025.

Looking ahead, he said the construction of schools would be made a requirement for new large-scale housing projects under planning rules.

The government will also expand the development of vertical schools to address overcrowding and land constraints in urban areas.
