PETALING JAYA:
New coaches for the Kelana Jaya LRT line will be procured next year at a cost of RM1 billion.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said railway operator Prasarana Malaysia Bhd will spend RM1 billion to replace 26 train units used on the Kelana Jaya LRT line.

Putrajaya will also spend RM200 million on stage bus services, including for new routes and additional buses in Johor Bahru ahead of the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link launch.

Prasarana will also receive 310 new buses by February, allowing it to increase bus services in focused areas, while 300 vans under its demand responsive transit scheme will be fully operational by the end of the year.

Anwar added that 1,450 electric buses and 300 electric vans will be procured in phases until 2030.
