Over 10,400 evacuated due to floods, Kelantan worst-hit

In Kelantan, 8,248 victims in Tumpat, Kota Bharu, Bachok and Pasir Puteh have been forced to flee their homes.

PETALING JAYA:
Some 10,469 people had been evacuated due to floods across Peninsular Malaysia as of 8.45am, rising from nearly 9,000 last night.

Kelantan is the worst-hit with 8,248 victims in Tumpat, Kota Bharu, Bachok and Pasir Puteh forced to vacate their homes due to floods amid the northeast monsoon season.

The evacuees are being housed at 33 temporary relief centres across the east coast state.

In Perak, 946 flood victims are at 16 shelters in Manjung, Perak Tengah, Larut-Matang-Selama and Batang Padang.

Further north, 342 people were evacuated in Kulim, Kedah, as well as 310 in Padang Besar and Kangar, Perlis. Penang has also been hit, with 242 people in Seberang Perai evacuated.

There were also 282 flood victims in Besut, Terengganu, and 55 in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, this morning.
