PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested the driver seen in a viral video which showed a car speeding and “drifting” dangerously while going up the road to Genting Highlands.

Bentong police chief Zaiham Kahar said authorities detected a 14-second video that went viral on TikTok on March 2, showing the incident.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver was recklessly ‘drifting’ the car around several corners, posing a serious risk to other road users,” he said in a statement today.

Following the clip, Zaiham said police launched efforts to identify the individual involved.

He added that a 29-year-old man voluntarily showed up at the Bentong police station at around 11am yesterday.

“He arrived with the vehicle believed to have been used in the incident. The suspect was subsequently arrested, and the vehicle was seized for further action,” Zaiham said.

An initial urine test on the suspect returned negative. The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
