Bukit Aman internal security and public order department’s wildlife crime bureau commander Zaki Ashar said the seizures followed raids on three premises in the area, adding that the operation’s success effectively crippled a syndicate involved in smuggling, distributing, and selling contraband frozen food in the Klang Valley.
He said the operation was conducted jointly with various other agencies, including the veterinary services department, the health ministry and domestic trade and cost of living ministry.
“Police also confiscated three weighing scales and three one-tonne lorries, bringing the total value of the seizures to RM1.9 million,” Bernama reported him as saying.
Zaki said 32 people, including three company owners and managers, aged between 22 and 59, were detained to assist in investigations.
He said agencies involved in the operation also issued compounds for various offences detected at the locations. All those detained were taken to the Sungai Buloh police headquarters for further action.
