Teen found dead in Sg Buloh home, cops probe for negligence

Police say the 13-year-old girl's death is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for abandoning or neglecting a child.

Police are investigating the death of a 13-year-old girl found dead in a house in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, for child negligence.

Sungai Buloh police chief Hafiz Nor said they were alerted to the child’s death at 6.27pm yesterday and a medical officer confirmed her death at the scene.

Hafiz said an autopsy would be conducted to determine the victim’s cause of death, Harian Metro reported.

He said police have recorded statements from three people.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for abandoning or neglecting a child in a manner likely to cause her physical or emotional harm.

“If convicted, offenders can be fined up to RM50,000 or jailed for a maximum 20 years, or both,” he said.
