Senior citizen held in Klang over fatal hit-and-run case

Police say the 75-year-old man was arrested over the accident that left two people dead and another seriously injured.

A 75-year-old man has been detained over a hit-and-run accident which left two people dead and another seriously injured in Klang on Friday.

North Klang police chief S Vijaya Rao said the man was arrested yesterday morning to assist in the investigation into the incident at Jalan Pekan Baru, Bandar Baru Klang, Bernama reported.

“The suspect is currently being detained and will be remanded for further investigation. Checks also found that the elderly man has no criminal record,” he said in a statement today.

Two women were killed while a 17-year-old teenager was injured after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into them in the suspected hit-and-run incident on May 15, according to the police.

The deceased were locals aged 57 and 62, while the injured teenager is the child of one of the victims.

Vijaya urged those with information on the case to contact the nearest police station or traffic investigating officer Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah at 017-5843860.
