Bluewater Ferry, operated by Bistari Gemilang Travel Sdn Bhd, said it will start imposing a RM16 fuel surcharge on all passengers, including Malaysians, from today.
In a notice to ticketing agents, it said existing bookings will also be imposed the fuel surcharge, with the additional RM16 to be collected from passengers before departure.
The agents have been tasked with notifying customers of the fuel surcharge and collecting the fee.
Last week, a Langkawi ferry operator announced it was hiking its fares by RM10 from April 15 because of the rise in industrial fuel prices.
However, Langkawi Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd said the additional charge would only apply to passengers who do not have a MyKad.
