PETALING JAYA:
A senior police officer from the Kuantan police headquarters and his wife were killed after the car they were travelling in lost control and skidded into the opposite lane around 3am today.

Syah Lokman Ludza Ramli, a 50-year-old police inspector, and Nurulfiza Ardiana Amba, 46, died at the scene at KM76 of Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Paloh Hinai in Pekan, Pahang.

Pekan police chief Zaidi Mat Zin said Syah Lokman was driving his Proton Wira from Kuantan to Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, while a Honda City was proceeding from Gelang Patah, Johor, to Terengganu.

He said the Proton lost control and skidded into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with the Honda, Utusan Malaysia reported.

“Based on preliminary investigations, the accident was caused by the negligence of the Proton driver,” Zaidi was quoted as saying.

Syah Lokman and Nurulfiza’s four children, aged 10 to 18, sustained injuries and are being treated at Hospital Muadzam Shah in Rompin.

The driver of the Honda, 26, only suffered minor injuries but his pregnant wife, also 26, is being treated at Hospital Muadzam Shah.

The case is being probed for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
