
A Malaysian Highway Authority spokesman said traffic began to slow on major routes at around 7am, and that there was “no significant change from a normal working day”, Bernama reported.
At 9.20am, traffic had slowed to a crawl on parts of the North-South Expressway, including from the Sungai Besi toll plaza to the city centre, Putra Mahkota to Kajang, and Sungai Buloh Hospital to Bukit Lanjan.
“Traffic flow was also slow along the New Klang Valley Expressway from Damansara to Damansara Utama, as well as on the Shah Alam Expressway between Bukit Rimau and Persiaran Kewajipan, Sukom and Awan Kecil, Awan Besar and Kinrara, Sunway and Persiaran Kewajipan, as well as Bandar Botanik and Pandamaran.
“Slow traffic was also observed on the North-South Expressway Central Link along several stretches, namely Putrajaya to Putra Heights, USJ to Shah Alam, Putra Heights to Bandar Saujana Putra, the Putrajaya-Cyberjaya toll plaza, as well as on the Grand Saga Highway from Bandar Tun Hussein Onn to the city centre,” the spokesman was quoted as saying.
Similar congestion was reported on multiple stretches of the Sprint Highway, Sungai Besi Expressway, New Pantai Expressway, Damansara-Puchong Expressway, Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Expressway, Kemuning-Shah Alam Expressway, SILK Highway, and Maju Expressway.
The WFH arrangement for the public sector is aimed at saving fuel and energy amid the global energy crisis resulting from the Middle East conflict.
The private sector has been encouraged by Putrajaya to implement WFH arrangements as well.
