Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the list comprised individuals qualified to lead the national anti-corruption agency, reported Bernama.
Speaking to reporters after engaging with the community in Pasir Gudang, Johor, today, Anwar said the list would not be disclosed to the public.
Sultan Ibrahim and the Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, received Anwar in an audience today.
Sultan Ibrahim yesterday said he would select the next MACC chief.
MACC chief Azam Baki is due to complete his term on May 12. His contract had been extended three times since his initial appointment in March 2020, with one-year extensions granted in May 2023, May 2024, and May 2025.
Several parties have urged the government not to extend Azam’s tenure after citing allegations reported in a Bloomberg report in February.
