PETALING JAYA:
Police have crippled two international drug trafficking syndicates following the arrest of two women and the seizure of 183.7kg of drugs worth RM14.7 million at KLIA and in Negeri Sembilan.

Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the first arrest was made in Mambau, Negeri Sembilan, on April 21 by the KLIA narcotics criminal investigation division.

He said the 34-year-old woman led police to the discovery of 18 sacks containing 239 plastic packages filled with compressed slabs believed to be cannabis buds. The haul, weighing 153.7kg and valued at RM12.3 million, was found at a house in Sendayan.

“We believe the suspect is among the syndicate’s masterminds. Her urine test returned negative, and she has no prior records.

“Police also seized a Honda City car worth RM35,000 and a Vmoto XDV 250 motorcycle worth RM15,000,” Bernama quoted him as saying at the Selangor police headquarters today.

In the second case, auxiliary police at KLIA detained a foreign woman after detecting two suspicious pieces of luggage on April 23.

He said checks uncovered 60 plastic packages containing compressed slabs believed to be cannabis buds, weighing 30kg and valued at RM2.4 million, which were believed to be headed for the European market.

“The 24-year-old suspect is single and works as a restaurant assistant in her home country. She tested negative for drugs, and has no prior records in Malaysia. Police also seized 280 British pounds, equivalent to about RM1,500,” he said.

Both suspects have been remanded for seven days for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking.
