Cheras police chief Rosdi Daud said the incident occurred at around 11.52pm and was detected by security personnel after they noticed through the CCTVs that one of the teens was dancing on the tracks.
The teen and his friend were immediately arrested by auxiliary policemen before being handed over to the police at the Bukit Jalil police station.
“The suspects, aged 16 and 17, were remanded until Sunday before being released on bail,” Rosdi said in a statement.
Rosdi said the pair were probed under Section 62 of the Railways Act for trespassing on train tracks, which provides for a fine or jail term if convicted.
However, he said, deputy public prosecutors ordered for the teens to be let off since both offenders were young and charging them in court would destroy their future.
Cheras loan shark group busted
Separately, Rosdi said Cheras police busted a group of loan sharks who were allegedly involved in 18 cases of harassment across the Klang Valley, including in Kuala Lumpur, Puchong, Petaling Jaya and Rawang.
Four men, aged 19 to 26, were arrested on April 23 after a contractor claimed posters making accusations against him were put up all around his housing area. He also claimed to have received threats via phone calls.
Following the arrests, police seized a Perodua Axia, five handphones, a megaphone and two “debt collector” vests. The case is being probed under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
“All four suspects were remanded for three days and released on police bail yesterday. The investigation paper is being completed and will be referred to prosecutors for further action.”
