
Sinar Harian reported that judge Tasnim Abu Bakar made her ruling after the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against the 32‑year‑old woman at the end of submissions.
In the first charge, the woman was accused of sexually assaulting the teenager in a car on Jalan Datuk Abdul Malik, Kuala Lumpur, at 8pm on June 23, 2023.
The charge was framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act, which provides for up to five years in jail and no less than two strokes of the rotan.
In the second charge, she was accused of committing the same offence in a car at the Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz bus stop at 9pm the same day.
The charge was framed under Section 14(b) of the same Act, read together with Section 16(1).
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nor Aisyah Zanyuin, while lawyers Fadhli Sutris and Ishak Yusof represented the accused.
