PETALING JAYA:
The Melaka government will ask Putrajaya to build a new hospital in the state, chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh said today.

Rauf said an additional health facility was urgently needed to serve Melaka’s growing population and rising number of emergency cases, Berita Harian reported.

He said the state’s main public hospital, Melaka Hospital, is 90 years old.

He said he would discuss the matter at the next state executive council meeting before filing a formal application with the health ministry.

Rauf said the new hospital should have modern facilities and be situated in a “suitable” location.
