KLIA police chief M Ravi said in the 2.20pm incident, the 27-year-old woman was seen crying and “screaming aggressively” on the edge of the third-floor balcony.

“Staff and security personnel attempted to calm her down but were unsuccessful. A KLIA security officer tried to approach and assist her, but she struggled and fell to the KLIA2 loading bay,” he said in a statement early this morning.

Ravi said medical officers administered emergency treatment and took the woman to Putrajaya Hospital. The hospital confirmed her death at about 5.09pm.

“Checks found that the woman was scheduled to fly home to China on May 2. The cause of the incident is still under investigation,” he said, adding that the case has been classified as sudden death.

Videos circulating online showed the woman sitting on an outer ledge of the terminal, drawing the attention of bystanders.

In some posts, a person wearing a high-visibility jacket is seen approaching the woman from behind moments before she fell.
