PETALING JAYA:
A Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 278 pilgrims bound for Saudi Arabia landed at Muscat International Airport today after experiencing technical issues.

Flight MH8110 landed in Oman as a precautionary measure, Tabung Haji said in a statement.

“All 278 passengers on board are safe, and their family members need not worry,” it said.

Flight MH8110 departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 2.06pm and was scheduled to land in Jeddah at 5.50pm local time (10.50pm in Malaysia).

However, the flight began experiencing technical issues at 5.11pm local time.

Tabung Haji said if necessary, the pilgrims will be put up in a hotel before continuing their journey to Jeddah.

In January, a Malaysia Airlines flight to KLIA had to return to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport shortly after departure as a precautionary measure following an engine indication anomaly.
