Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement chief Zamzuri Isa said police received a report on the incident at 4.53am.
He said a preliminary investigation found that the 2.30am incident involved a car driven by a 31-year-old man with his 26-year-old fiancée in the passenger seat.
“They were in the left lane when the driver lost control and veered into the shoulder, colliding with the rear of a school bus parked at the roadside without warning signs.
“The female passenger sustained a severe injury to her chest and was confirmed dead at the scene by medical officers, while the driver sustained a head injury and was brought to Selayang Hospital for treatment,” Berita Harian reported him as saying today.
Zamzuri said the school bus belonged to an international school nearby. He said the accident is believed to have happened after the driver became drowsy, losing control of his vehicle.
“Both vehicles have been taken for further inspection. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving,” he said.
