Three people were arrested yesterday after giving their statements at the Labuan MACC office as part of a probe into abuse of power.
PETALING JAYA:
A senior assistant engineer at the Labuan branch of the Federal Territories Islamic religious council (MAIWP) was among three people remanded today for alleged involvement in a corruptly awarded RM2.6 million contract.

Magistrate Melissa Chia issued the remand order effective from today until May 12 following an application by Labuan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigating officer Andrew Alexander Malibin, Bernama reported.

The senior assistant engineer is alleged to have abused his position by appointing a subcontractor company linked to his family members to carry out management and maintenance works at Labuan MAIWP’s Darul Kifayah Complex.

The case is being investigated for abuse of power under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.

The two others remanded are company owners.

The trio were detained yesterday after having their statements recorded at the Labuan MACC office.
