Fire cadet instructor pleads not guilty to sexually assaulting student

PETALING JAYA:
A fire cadet instructor pleaded not guilty in the Ipoh sessions court today to seven charges of sexual assault and one charge of possessing pornographic images of a 14-year-old female student.

Aidilafifi Muhammad, 28, entered his plea after the charges were read to him separately before judge Jean Sharmila Jesudason.

He is accused of sexually assaulting the victim at various locations in Perak Tengah between early February and May 1.

The seven charges were framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act, which provides for up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction.

Aidilafifi was also charged under Section 10 of the same Act with possessing pornographic images of the victim on his phone, which provides for up to five years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both.

Deputy public prosecutor Nor Arfahanim Azureen Arfanuddin appeared for the prosecution, while counsel Ahmad Shamil Azad Abdul Hamid represented Aidilafifi.

The court set bail at RM9,000 and fixed June 23 for remention and submission of documents.
