PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a man for allegedly injuring another man with a sword at a temple in Cameron Highlands yesterday.

Cameron Highlands police chief Azri Ramli said the 39-year-old suspect was arrested after police received a report on the incident at about 6pm yesterday.

He said the incident occurred when the victim, a 31-year-old man, was performing prayers at the temple with his friends.

“The suspect suddenly entered the compound, making noise and disturbing the temple-goers. When asked to leave, he lost his temper and picked up a sword and slashed the victim.

“The victim tried to block the blow and sustained injuries to his arms, forehead and body. He was taken to Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom Hospital in Tanah Rata before being referred to Fatimah Hospital in Ipoh,” Bernama reported him as saying.

Azri said the suspect, who has a criminal record, including drug-related cases, has been remanded for four days until Thursday to assist in investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons.
