
State housing and local government committee chairman Jafni Shukor said an internal investigation by MBJB had identified the individuals involved as workers for a contractor appointed to manage stray dogs.
He said the contractor had been issued a show-cause letter for failure to comply with the SOPs and terms of his appointment.
“MBJB has also filed a police report to facilitate an investigation by the authorities for negligence, misconduct, abuse of power or violation of the law,” Utusan Malaysia reported Jafni as saying today.
He said possible action against the contractor included suspension of operations, contract termination, and blacklisting.
A video showing a pick-up truck running over a dog at a residential area in Puteri Wangsa had gone viral on social media and triggered public outrage.
Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia called on the authorities, including the Johor veterinary services department, the police and MBJB, to investigate the matter and identify those involved.
