Teen missing during hike found dead after 4-day search

A teenage girl who lost her way while hiking at Bukit Changkat Asa here four days ago was found dead by rescuers today.

Selangor fire and rescue department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the body of Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul, 19, was found off the hiking trail by the search and rescue team at 11.59am.

“The victim’s body was found about 500m from where she was last seen, and 1km from the incident control post.

“It took the search and rescue team about 20 minutes to bring the body to the control post using a stretcher,” he told Bernama when met at the incident control post.

The body was handed over to the police and taken to Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital, he added.

The search and rescue operation involving various security agencies resumed at 8am today after being suspended at 6.30pm yesterday.

Nur Izzati Humaira was believed to have lost her way at about 10.50am last Saturday while descending Bukit Changkat Asa with her family after deciding to walk ahead alone as she felt hot and tired.

The case drew widespread attention on social media and in the news, with many expressing concern and offering prayers and well wishes for the teenager’s safe return.
