Body of unidentified man discovered in Cheras river

Police believe the victim had been dead for two to three days.

Police received information from the public regarding the discovery of the body at about 5.13pm yesterday.

Police have confirmed the discovery of the body of an unidentified man, believed to have drowned, in Sungai Kerayong along Jalan Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.

Cheras police chief Rosdi Daud said police received information from the public regarding the discovery at about 5.13pm yesterday.

“Initial inspections at the location found that the victim was a man estimated to be in his 20s.

“The victim is believed to have died due to drowning two to three days ago,” he said in a statement, adding that a physical examination found no criminal elements.

The body has been sent to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz in Cheras for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

“The case is currently classified as sudden death,” he added.
