Yadzil said this in response to Muhyiddin’s remarks at a ceramah yesterday in Melaka, where he claimed the coalition would sweep all 28 state seats in the coming state elections and that parties in the loose coalition Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat (IPR) could contest under the PN banner.
Yadzil, who was sacked from Bersatu in February, also reminded Muhyiddin that he will not be the one signing election candidate appointment letters for PN.
“Enough with the pointless political chess game and focus on your party instead,” the former Bersatu Supreme Council member said in a statement.
“Strengthen its machinery, build its grassroots strength, (and) don’t let your own party become the ‘passenger’ that rides on other component parties’ strength.”
Yadzil also hit out at Muhyiddin for welcoming IPR parties to contest under PN, claiming that the Pagoh MP previously blocked four Malay-based parties from joining the coalition.
“But now, all of a sudden, IPR, whose direction is still unknown, is being easily given the green light to contest under PN.
“But when it comes to other parties like Urimai and the Malaysian Advancement Party, he seems eager to pull them in. Is this move intentional to weaken PN from within?” asked the assemblyman from Melaka.
While Yadzil did not name those four Malay parties, it was previously reported that Berjasa, Mukhriz Mahathir’s Pejuang, and Ibrahim Ali’s Putra had applied to join PN.
On May 18, Berita Harian reported that efforts by ex-Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin’s group to join an existing political party seeking to become a PN member hit a dead end after the coalition decided not to accept any new component parties for the time being.
According to a source, Bersatu leaders had voiced their objections on the matter during the PN Supreme Council meeting on May 16, citing concerns that a new component member could become a “new home” for Hamzah and his camp, potentially destabilising PN.
However, PN deputy chairman Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the coalition’s leadership had not held any official discussion regarding the entry of Hamzah’s supporters and followers. He also said the group had yet to submit any application for consideration.
