PETALING JAYA:
Johor DAP chairman Teo Nie Ching has dismissed a purported list of party candidates for the upcoming state election circulating online as fake.

“Please do not spread or forward unverified or false information,” she said in a Facebook post today. She also shared a picture of the document, which named 15 purported DAP candidates for the state polls.

Yesterday, Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary Abdul Halim Suleiman also dismissed a list of alleged BN candidates circulating online.

According to that list, MCA would contest nine seats, while MIC would stand in two constituencies and Umno would contest the remaining seats.

The Johor legislative assembly was dissolved on Monday, paving the way for the 16th state election to be held within the next 60 days.

In April, Teo said DAP would defend the 10 seats it won in the 2022 state election, while seat allocation talks among Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties were still ongoing.

The Umno-led BN coalition formed the Johor government after the March 2022 state election, with 40 of the 56 seats.

PH won 12 seats, with DAP winning 10 and PKR and Amanah taking one each. Perikatan Nasional won three seats while Muda, which contested under the PH banner, won one seat.
