PETALING JAYA:
Fresh elections are to be held in the PKR Ampang division after the divisional election results were nullified following a claim that the newly-elected divisional chief was involved in buying votes.

The election will be held on June 29.

PKR elections chief Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the matter was handled by the complaints panel after an internal inquiry by the panel. “The panel has advised us to not reveal details,” she told FMT.

Zaliha was quoted in an earlier news report saying the violation was discovered following an internal investigation.

The divisional leadership race last month was won by Daing Muhammad Reduan Bachok, who obtained 942 votes against Hans Isaac (609 votes) and Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Alhadad (589 votes). Three other candidates scored 17 to 272 votes.
