PETALING JAYA:
The entire state of Sabah will be placed under a conditional movement control order (CMCO) from Oct 13 until Oct 26.

Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made following the rise of Covid-19 infections in the state.

“Inter-district travel is prohibited. However, workers who must cross district borders must present a letter of permission from their company or their employee pass,” he said at a press conference on Facebook Live today.

The rules under the CMCO are as follows:

– Only two members of a household may leave the house to buy necessities.

– All schools, higher education institutions, training institutes, kindergartens, childcare centres, public parks and recreational centres will be closed.

– Mosques, suraus and other non-Muslim places of worship will also be closed.

– All operations for express buses and bus stops will be prohibited.

– Activities in the economic, industrial and trade sector would be allowed to operate as usual, but under strict SOPs, as detailed by the National Security Council.

– Wholesale and daily markets are allowed to open from 6am to 2pm.

– Convenience stores, stores selling necessities, gas stations, pharmacies and medicine stores may operate from 6am to 6pm.

– Restaurants and other food stores will also be allowed to open from 6am to 6pm, but strictly for drive-through, deliveries and takeaways only.

– Clinics and public hospitals will be allowed to open for 24 hours.

– Fishing, farming and the agriculture sector may operate as usual.

“Those in the trade and manufacturing sectors, including small and medium-sized industries, must obtain permission from the Sabah Disaster Management Committee to operate,” said Ismail.

Meanwhile, Ismail also announced that Felda Umas in Tawau will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from tomorrow until Oct 26.

“This EMCO will involve 800 households and a total of 17,549 residents in the area.”

Under the EMCO, Ismail said all residents will not be allowed to leave their houses and all entryways into the area will be closed.

For emergency cases, involving health or death, the residents may make a request to the police.

Ismail also said the authorities would be conducting targeted screenings on all the residents involved. All necessities, such as food and water, will be provided by the state government.
