With many SPM 2020 students’ education upended because of the pandemic, the need to get them back on track is of growing concern.
City University Malaysia (CityU) is closing this gap by introducing a unique programme called ‘5G’ that aims to help these students begin their tertiary studies early.
The ‘G’ in the name stands for ‘guarantees’ and the 5G programme essentially refers to the following five areas:
- Guaranteed Admission
- Guaranteed Money Back
- Guaranteed Financial Aid
- Guaranteed Globally Recognised Qualification
- Guaranteed Employability Advantage
With CityU’s 5G programme, SPM 2020 candidates can pursue their tertiary education right now by applying for courses even before their official examination results are released.
All they have to do is apply using their SPM forecast results instead.
In other words, CityU is guaranteeing students direct entry into Pre-U or Diploma programmes using SPM forecast results with a minimum five credits and three credits respectively.
Supposing one’s SPM results are wildly different from their forecast results, CityU will allow the student to change their course with no penalty imposed.

And in the event a student’s results fall short of the minimum criteria and they must withdraw from their studies, there’s a 100% money back guarantee.
In addition, CityU is offering scholarships based on a student’s forecast result. The scholarship will still apply even if their actual SPM results are lacking, provided the minimum entry criteria is met.
And in the event a student’s SPM results are better than their forecast results, an upward revision will be carried out accordingly.
In short, the scholarship awarded will be based on the better of the two results, providing students with peace of mind to focus on their tertiary education instead.
CityU’s programmes are of global standing with recognition and certification by various professional organisations and government accreditation bodies, locally and internationally.
In addition, CityU’s partnerships with various other educational and industrial institutions ensures that students will be able to find employment inside and outside Malaysia.
Students with their SPM forecast results may begin their enrolment in CityU starting with the April 2021 intake.

To help facilitate matters, an education fair will be organised on the CityU PJ campus over three weekends, starting from March 20 until April 2.
Prospective students and their parents will receive first-hand information on 68 programmes in more than 20 fields of study.
These potential students can also meet with academics, experts and students to decide on what courses to pursue post-SPM so they can make an informed decision.
Students who have financial problems are also not to be left out, as CityU is offering assistance in the form of the Bantuan Prihatin CityU programme.
These students will be able to register and start their tertiary education with CityU for the May intake without having to pay any fees upfront.
Other options for financial assistance include PTPTN, MARA, Zakat Selangor, Penang Future Foundation, Malaysia Rubber Council and many others.
Aside from Undergraduate studies, CityU will also be having Postgraduate programme workshops and special promotions for Education Fair participants.
