Local anime ‘Mechamato Movie’ hits RM1.1mil on day one

Writer and producer Nizam Abd Razak Monsta shares good news on Facebook, thanking everyone who helped make the movie a success.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Monsta Studio’s film “Mechamato Movie” raked in RM1.1 million on the first day of its screening on Dec 8.

Writer and producer Nizam Abd Razak shared the good news on Facebook, expressing his gratitude to everyone who played a role in making the local anime production such a big hit.

He specifically thanked the Malaysian audience for watching the movie.

“Thank you, Alhamdulillah! Thanks to the support of Malaysians, Mechamato Movie managed to collect more than RM1 million on the opening day of screening nationwide. Thank you to those who have watched and those who will watch #MechamatoMovie,” he wrote.

Aside from Malaysia, “Mechamato Movie” is also screening in cinemas in Brunei.

In an official statement, co-producer and distributor Astro Shaw stated their confidence in local animation production houses such as Monsta, saying the brand had credibility and a good track record in elevating Malaysia’s name at the global level.

Monsta is the creator of the popular animated series “BoBoiBoy”, “Papa Pipi”, and “Fly With Yaya”.

“Mechamato”, the studio’s latest production, emerged in the top three at the Tokyo Anime Festival Awards 2023 Japan.
