PN will make 30% low-medium-cost units for Penang folk mandatory, says Lau

The Penang Perikatan Nasional chairman took the caretaker state government to task for failing to provide affordable homes for the rakyat.

A variation of an existing affordable housing policy was among the incentives offered by Penang Perikatan Nasional in its manifesto, which was unveiled today.

Penang PN chairman Dominic Lau said that should the coalition wrest the state from Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional, it would make it mandatory for developers building houses in the state to allocate 30% low-medium-cost units for Penang folk.

Currently, the Penang state government maintains that the developers must fulfil 30% of low-medium-cost (LMC) housing quota requirements in their projects.
