Budiman has asked for Sungai Besar’s voters to choose him first before he would let his opinion on the matter be known.
“Let me win first,” he told reporters.
Budiman was previously evasive on the matter, asking for the question to be directed to PAS.
“BN isn’t bringing up the hudud issue, but PAS is. Direct that question to PAS,” he said in a press conference at the BN central operations centre in Sungai Panjang.
Budiman also said he did not have any problem with approaching the Chinese voters in Sungai Besar, considering the substantial aid coming from BN component parties, such as MCA, MIC and Gerakan.
“I have no problem with MCA, MIC and Gerakan as they have been helping me a lot,” he said.
Budiman said he was more comfortable with being known as the underdog candidate.
“I am more comfortable with speaking and campaigning as the underdog candidate. It lessens the pressure on me,” he said.
Budiman will be facing two other candidates from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and PAS in the Sungai Besar by-election, Azhar Abdul Shukur and Abdul Rani Osman respectively.
