One such incident was when PAS supporters invited Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki to lead the terawih prayers in Kuala Kangsar yesterday.
The matter was shared by Asyraf on his Facebook account. He took it as an honour given by PAS supporters, depicting the harmonious campaign trail in Kuala Kangsar.
“I enjoyed seeing how harmonious the by-election campaign is in Kuala Kangsar because the PAS and Umno election machinery can perform the terawih prayers together.
“In fact, PAS leaders in the area and their members also listened to my religious talk (tazkirah).
“They also asked me to lead the Isya’ and terawih prayers at the Taman Jasa Madrasah Kuala Kangsar,” Asyraf wrote.
He said this showed it was time both parties began charting a new political culture by putting aside differing opinions and placed Islam as the main core in their fight.
The issue of leading prayers was a topic which was much debated previously when some PAS supporters did not endorse an imam from Umno and vice versa.
The matter had also led to one mosque having two imam.
