“Amirudin’s appointment was decided by the party. It is a non-issue here. That is Idris’ personal view,” she said, referring to Ijok assemblyman Dr Idris Ahmad.
“The party did suggest several names and they included YB Amirudin. He has been sworn in as the menteri besar, so we need to move forward,” she said.
Wan Azizah, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, spoke to reporters after meeting Amirudin, who is the Sungai Tua assemblyman, at her office here for an hour.
Earlier today, Idris claimed he was the only menteri besar candidate fully endorsed by all Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties.
He said Amirudin was only backed by Azmin, who is the PKR deputy president.
“Only one name was suggested, and that was my name. My name had the blessings of all parties in PH and it was sent to the Sultan of Selangor,” Idris told a press conference.
Both Azmin and Amirudin have dismissed the claims, with Azmin saying that discussions were held and PH leaders had come to a consensus.
Idris was earlier mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Azmin as menteri besar. Another potential candidate was Seri Setia assemblyman Shaharuddin Badaruddin.
Azmin had stepped down from the MB post after he was appointed as the economic affairs minister in Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Cabinet.
