The most popular name for males is Ismail, the most popular name for females is Fatimah and the longest name in the country is a whopping 13 words long.

PUTRAJAYA:
Princess Aura Nurr Ermily Amara Auliya Bidadari Nawal El Zendra binti Mohd Suffian is the longest name in Malaysia, according to National Registration Department (NRD) records.

NRD director-general Mohammad Razin Abdullah said according to its records, the most popular name for males was Ismail (72,157 people) followed by Ahmad (57,914) and Abdullah (47,989).

For females, the most popular names are Fatimah (74,605 people), Zainab (41,450) and Azizah (34,114), he said at the department’s Innovation Day 2018 celebrations here yesterday.

As of June 30, the total number of MyKad holders stood at 22,664,773 of whom 19,322,409 had switched to the latest version. A total of 3,247,589 people have not, while 81,250 still hold the Kad Pengenalan Bermutu Tinggi and 13,525 hold the Kad Pengenalan Pertama.

Razin urged all those who have not switched to the latest version of MyKad to do so without further delay.
