PKR elections: In Perak, Rafizi ahead of Azmin

According to unofficial results, Rafizi leads the minister by over 2,000 votes.

PKR deputy president hopeful Rafiz Ramli is ahead of incumbent Mohamed Azmin Ali in the party polls in Perak.

State PKR information chief, Siti Aisah Shaik Ismail said according to unofficial results, Rafizi obtained 6,785 votes while Azmin, who is the economic affairs minister, received 4,484 votes following the election in all 24 divisions in the state yesterday.

Meanwhile, PKR election committee chairman Rashid Din said in his statement that it would only finalise the decision for all 24 divisions in Perak after they had cleared the dubious votes.

Previously, votes cast in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Federal Territory, Negeri Sembilan and Perlis had been in favour of Rafizi, while Azmin won in Penang, Johor and the first phase of the polls in Selangor as well as on the first election day in Kedah last Friday.

Meanwhile, the second day of the polls in five branches in Kedah, involving Jerai, Merbok, Sungai Petani, Padang Serai and Kulim-Bandar Baharu, saw Azmin ahead by 2,606 votes compared to Rafizi’s 2,080. These votes, however, are unofficial.
