
“Technically, all charges against me have come to an end, from sedition to the Peaceful Assembly Act,” he said after attending his case at the court today.
He said he was now completing his studies at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris in Tanjung Malim as the five-year ban due to his criminal charges was lifted in June.
“I am now continuing my studies for a TESL degree,” he added, referring to the English education programme.
The High Court affirmed his acquittal today after deputy public prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin informed justice Nazlan Ghazali that the prosecution did not wish to pursue their appeal against it.
Adam was freed by the Magistrate’s Court last year, which ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the charge under Section 4 (2)(c) of the Peaceful Assembly Act.
He was also freed by the Court of Appeal in February from allegedly making seditious statements during a forum after the 2013 general election.
Speaking today, he said he hoped the government would not waste its time on “political prosecution” cases.
“I also hope to see laws like the Sedition Act, Sosma and the Printing Presses and Publications Act repealed,” he said.
