
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be launching the human rights celebration, which will be held in Padang Timur, here. Also scheduled to speak is chief secretary to the government Ismail Bakar.
The Human Rights Commission event has the theme “Stand Up 4 Human Rights”, in conjunction with International Human Rights Day on Monday.
The celebration will be held from 9am to 3pm.
The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination gathering, meanwhile, is supposed to be from 2pm to 6pm, according to Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL).
Umno, PAS and Perkasa have given their support for the ICERD rally. News reports said 500,000 people are expected to gather to celebrate the government’s decision not to ratify the United Nations convention.
