“I’m quite happy where I am, thank you,” Khairy told reporters when met in the Parliament lobby here.
He said he was aware that the PPBM Youth chief had mentioned him by name but declined to comment when asked if he had been personally approached to join the party.
“Enough, enough,” he said.
Syed Saddiq, the youth and sports minister, had yesterday urged Khairy to abandon the far-right views said to be growing in the Umno-PAS partnership.
“I would like to invite @Khairykj to join PPBM,” he said in a tweet, tagging Khairy’s Twitter account.
“Join the likes of Tun, TSMY, DSMM & Tokpa. Together, we can move Malaysia forward,” he added, referring to PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad, party president Muhyiddin Yassin and Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed.
Meanwhile, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said he had yet to study Mahathir’s invitation for Malay parties to join PPBM.
“(I’ll) read it in full first (before commenting),” he told reporters before leaving Parliament.
Mahathir had told reporters on Friday that more and more Malay parties were being formed which reduced their potential to win elections.
“Yes, join PPBM. When our group is big, we become strong, but don’t stop others from joining the party, let them join,” he said.
